Call for Abstracts

Optometrists Association of Uganda (OAU) welcomes abstracts by optometrists, ophthalmologists, other Eye Health Workers, and Optometry/ophthalmology students for presentation at the 7th scientific conference and AGM. Abstracts should be submitted to info@optometryuganda.org.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Full payment of registration fees is required for the inclusion of abstracts to the OAU scientific conference program with the exception of applicable waivers.

All abstracts must be original. The topic categories may include but are not limited to:

  • Primary Care Optometry/Clinical Optometry
  • Contact Lenses/Orthokeratology
  • Binocular Vision/ Vision Therapy/ Orthoptics
  • Low Vision/ Vision Rehabilitation
  • Paediatric Optometry
  • Public Health Optometry/Epidemiology/Prevention of Blindness
  • Optics/Visual Optics
  • Optometric Instrumentation

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

To facilitate the submission process and the subsequent follow-up process, please consider the following guidelines for submission.

  • Abstracts can be submitted either as Original Research or Case Reports.
  • The abstract must be submitted in English, Microsoft Word file (version 2013), font Times New Roman, font size 11 point with a single line spacing.
  • Maximum Title limit: 15 words.
  • Maximum word limit: 350 words.
  • In the Original Research, the Abstract is submitted in one paragraph containing the sub-title: Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
  • In the Case Report, the Abstract is submitted in one paragraph containing the sub-title: Purpose, Case Report and Conclusions.
  • No tables, figures and references are allowed.
  • There is no limit to the number of abstracts you can submit provided that the presenter has registered for the Scientific conference as a participant.
  • There is no limit to the number of authors per abstract; the presenting author should ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the organizers.

The closing date for Abstract submission is 28th February 2023.​

ACCEPTANCE GUIDELINES

You will be notified by e-mail if your submitted abstract has been selected for an oral presentation or a poster presentation by 30th April 2023.

All presenters whose abstract(s) have been accepted are required to submit a full presentation(s) to the OAU scientific conference organizers by 15th May 2023.

In addition to the full-paper submission, the accepted presenter will take note of the followings:

  1. For Oral presentation, the presentation will be 15 minutes only for a case report and 10 minutes for research.
  2. The poster session will occur during the lunch break in the exhibition hall.
